Building Community Roots Through Plant Breeding
The Community Plant Breeding Team was created in 2021 as a response to the demand for culturally relevant vegetables for the immigrant population in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The CPBT works to adapt vegetables to the Minnesota climate, and create a space where everyone can have access to the fresh produce important to them.

Our Team
The CPBT would not be possible without our amazing team members and community collaborators. Our team is currently 11 graduate students strong!
Focus Species
Our group currently focuses on four species for adaptation: amaranth, cleome, Ethiopian mustard, and jute mallow.

The CPBT aims to develop a collection of resources and knowledge that can be shared with our community members. This includes articles, publications, growing guides, and more.
